about

Description: As soon as you press play on this release you know it's a Cut Iowa Network record. That static interference with industrial undertones and the sense that the band are continuing to explore finding the signal and the noise and having fun interweaving the two. With a different drummer in tow for this particular excursion there is a departure from some of the signature tripped out thunderous krautrock moves but this is no bad thing. Barringer and Evans come to the fore as a result, inverting their musical triangle again and pushing the sense of space and atmosphere from their machines. 'Elevate the Frontier' evokes dystopian landscapes. It fizzes with white noise and hangar like guitar shapes. Barringer's bass part half way through lands like a chinook to assault the senses mixed in with layers of looping squall, and here's the kicker...out of this surfaces electronic drum loops. New territory for Cut Iowa Network, and it works. The second track 'Klammer' continues the journey with increased intensity building layer upon layer and more dynamic interplay between guitars, bass, loops, static noise, real and synthetic drums. Simultaneously vast and eclectic with the signature Cut Iowa Network way of bringing noise together to make new atmospheres. We’re off to press play again.
