Description: Steve Roden and Stephen Vitiello return to Champion Version with this epic ambient drone suite. The first track, ‘Invisible Helpers’, is a peaceful tape-loop like meditation featuring stunning swirls and textures. Real understated work. The first 7” finishes with the gorgeous ‘Your Trees, Follow’, a piece you’re longing to continue endlessly and could easily be expanded on with its spectacular shimmering atmospheres. The music on ‘In Dawns With Moon’ evokes the title perfectly as waves of refined sound experiments gradually unravel with sparsely plucked guitar textures that meld beneath crunchy billowing echoes. This track then segues into ‘Surrounded By Mountains’, an introverted collection of loops with a layering of scant notes that build and build upon each other before slowly fading away into the heavens. A grand drone flight, a myriad of beauty and an enduring masterpiece that we find enormously compelling. The music across ‘I Always Wanted A Standing Cat‘ is just sublime. You have one week.
