Description: The original intention was to release this as a standalone 10" with drums firmly at the forefront but we mistakenly sent the wrong files to the vinyl manufacturer and only discovered our error after we took delivery of the final records and listened back to them. We placed a brand new order with the correct music and then spoke with Minus Pilots to consider together what to do with the old records. Our initial discussions centred around recycling them by etching a PARS design onto the A and B sides but after a few months of deliberation we eventually agreed to keep the records untouched and give them away free of charge to all who purchased a copy of the 'False Flags' 10". As a consequence of the space left unfilled by the missing drums, 'False Flag' emphasises the outer limits of minimalism with mellow sustained bass patterns and multiple currents of tape crackle taking centre-stage. Gently dissolved structures, this version of the record must be heard.

I came to this album (and label) via acloserlisten.com, and picked up the CD--great packaging!--through Stashed Goods. One of my favourite albums of 2016 that can be played at any time: it has such a nice relaxing feel to it that kind of washes over you as you listen. In places (e.g. "Before") it reminds me a bit of Ludovico Einaudi. Great stuff! Gordon

Even if he says otherwise, Ian Hawgood is super prolific and incredibly talented in not only his own releases, but in collaborations and with the heart & soul put into the labels he's run over the years. Saying all that, this is a more recent favorite release of Ian's: peaceful, deceivingly simple (yet not!) piano works that is personal, elegant and graceful in its warmth and presentation. "Dissolve" shows a lot of unique and emotional layers and textures. To people who haven't heard this so far, you need to hear this because this is what ambient deserves to be: slow, drifting, and able to evoke emotions which they do perfectly. 6 amazing songs to get lost inside. Visual Complexity
