Description: 'Apophenia/Akrasia' is a set of improvised compositions recorded live during a February 2016 Sonic Imperfections event in London, England. The movements contained on the 'Apophenia/Akrasia' 10" are played by Andrew Ostler on contrabass clarinet, saxophone and electronics, Sam Underwood on tuba and Mark Carroll on electric cello, a group of three improvisers with roots in ambient, minimalist and classical music. The music captured on this 10" is a wonderful token that perfectly demonstrates how the three performers responded to each other as musicians, how they heard and reacted to changes within the music and how they related to the running time of the performance on the night. As a result, 'Apophenia/Akrasia' lets you experience music which was entirely documented in that time and enables you to discover wonderful new territories in collective improvisation with each and every listen.

Even if he says otherwise, Ian Hawgood is super prolific and incredibly talented in not only his own releases, but in collaborations and with the heart & soul put into the labels he's run over the years.
Saying all that, this is a more recent favorite release of Ian's: peaceful, deceivingly simple (yet not!) piano works that is personal, elegant and graceful in its warmth and presentation. Plus it's for a wonderful cause. Get it!! Joe Borreson

"Dissolve" shows a lot of unique and emotional layers and textures. To people who haven't heard this so far, you need to hear this because this is what ambient deserves to be: slow, drifting, and able to evoke emotions which they do perfectly. 6 amazing songs to get lost inside. Visual Complexity
